What You Will Study

The Foundation Year is designed for students who may not meet the standard entry requirements for a degree.

Topics covered include the foundations of health and care, understanding human development, and key concepts that support academic success.

The course takes a broad and practical approach to understanding health and well-being. You will learn how physical health, mental well-being, and social factors all play a role in shaping individuals’ lives.

There is also a focus on how lifestyle choices, including physical activity, can influence health outcomes. You will develop skills in supporting behaviour change and communicating effectively with individuals in care settings.

After successfully completing the Foundation Year, you will move on to the main degree programme (Level 4), where you will continue developing your knowledge and practical skills in preparation for employment in the sector.
